Is Blogging Dead? Does blogging important anymore? Can continue blogging as a profitable career?
These are the most asked questions on the internet relating to blogging as a career or as a passion. The majority of people share the concern that whether blogging is beneficial, especially in the new era of advanced visual communication means.
My blogs and channel are actually the answer to those questions. Because you can see some organic growth in my blogs and YouTube channel that deals with the topics of blogging and content marketing even if it is not sudden and steep.
When my channel got 11000+ subscribers it is clear that so many people are eager to learn more about this field. Even if the growth was at a very low pace in the beginning it picked up a bit faster in the later stage. So it is sure that we cannot rule out this area completely. But when comes to the answer to the question mentioned earlier, one can say that it is dead in one way and not dead in another way. Let us first look at the reason for saying dead.
Blogging is dead – Where?
Blogging in the past was a technique used to write down personal things or experiences. It was just a way for people to write down things online instead of writing diaries. But when social media take over such things, old-fashioned blogging has lost its relevance considerably. Now those kinds of blogs are limited to someone having celebrity status. In that way, we can say that blogging is dead.
Another area where blogging has lost its importance is in the field of online magazines. Most people are interested to make blogs in the form of news portal or magazine website that deals with different topics and industries. But it is evident that the chances are very low for the success of those kinds of blogs.
It is true that at one time these types of sites were used to get good traffic. But now the methods of presentation and pattern of content consumption have changed a lot. Even search engines give importance to content based only on its usefulness or quality. In other words, we can say that Google follows content that the readers actually interact with.
What search engines do now is deliver what the users want. For that, even Google is making more than a thousand changes in its search algorithm in a year. That means more than one change happens on a daily basis which is actually unknown to most Google users.
So, if you think that you can build a blog by simply writing or copy-pasting some random content and making it grow by promoting it and thereby achieving some financial gain, then you are wrong. Why because the possibilities for the growth of such content have come to an end with the revolutionary changes in the search algorithm.
Blogging is growing – Where?
When analyzing the statistical figures, it can be seen that the importance of blogging has not decreased at all. If we take a global estimate, there are about 2000 Crore (20 Billion) blog views in a month. In other words, there are about 100 Crore (1 Billion) blogs in total, according to those who make study this subject globally. This figure shows that its importance has not at all diminished as much as we think.
Similarly, it is said that more than 50% of the world’s business strategies are implemented on blogs. Many statistics show that the blogging sector has grown by more than 10 percent in the last 5 years. Moreover, many people even don’t realize that they are members of a very large community when they become a part of the blogging industry. So even if we get the benefit of a small part of it, it can become a big benefit for us eventually.
Following are the areas where positive growth can be seen.
1. Growing Trend of SEO
Most of us still rely on search engines like Google or Bing or others for information or to clear our doubts. We all know that Google holds the majority of the search industry i.e., about 93% of the entire search volume. Only 3% of it is from YouTube search which is not at all negligible in number as compared to other search engines in the world. Then we can understand how important and big Google is.
We also need to know that most of the information that comes up to us when we search on Google is from blogs. Therefore, we can say for sure that the importance of blogs has not decreased at all.
It is another matter that even the most dominant social media in recent times has very little participation in the search industry. That means even Facebook has only 0.96% in this area. It is also worth knowing that Bing, which is just behind Google, has a share of only 2.3% and Yahoo 1.5% in the search engines market. When it exempts the contribution of YouTube which is 3%, the remaining 90% of the search queries are entertained by Google alone. One thing we must note is that the majority of search results are in the form of text content and most of which are pointing to some blogs.
Therefore, if we somehow manage to be a part of that 90 percent, it is indisputable that we can achieve positive growth.
So, if you ask where the blog has grown, it can be said without any doubt that it is the blogs that have been done by following the niche or subject.
2. Micro-influencers
The micro-influencers are gaining more importance than ever before in the new digital era. Micro-influencers are persons who are experts in a certain area and able to influence people in that particular niche or industry even if it is small compared to influencers. Their specialty is that they have in-depth knowledge in the field they are dealing with. They are now the most likely to grow even in the web world due to multiple reasons.
The bottom line is that each of you should try to do so through blogging. So it is better to choose an area that we are most interested in without taking all the topics, but it should be a place where we can create the most valuable content and thereby benefit the reader in some way.
3. User Experience on Blog
Similarly, the experience that our blog provides to the reader who comes to read our blog is very important. It includes the speed of our site and its overall beauty, as well as the credibility of the content and the way we have written the blog post. It is also very important that he should get it quickly as possible when he searches for something. Google calls all such processes collectively User Experience. Blogs and sites that provide such a good user experience and value are only going to reflect in search results anymore.
It is indisputable that if we strategically bring the articles to the top of the search result by any other unhealthy means or tactics bypassing the ability of the search engine, it would soon fall far behind afterward. That means only good and useful content will survive.
As someone says, even if you write blogs having 2000 or 3000 words, it may not come up in search results. Now the criteria for showing content in search results are based on how helpful our article is or how much knowledge it imparts or how much it helps to solve his problems. In short, only writings and blogs that satisfy the reader in some way will succeed now.
Similarly, we must give emphasis on how our blogs or websites are shown on mobile devices which means it should be in a responsive theme that will adjust according to the display size without losing its visual esthetics. Mobile optimization is indispensable because most people read and watch things through mobile phones. This is also part of the User Experience I mentioned earlier.
4. Branding Potential in Blogging
Growing your blog as a brand is the need of the new age. The possible digital branding strategies have to be applied by every blogger in order to establish their identity and succeed in this competitive world. Because Google Insiders often say that even Google gives more importance to brands. As the credibility of your brand increases, the reach and visibility of your blog content in search will automatically increase.
When the blog starts growing, it should be used as a marketing tool. If we have our own product or service, we can sell it using this strategy, if not; we can promote other people’s products or services through our blog. Likewise, you should try to make financial gains by utilizing the possibilities of various types of affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is also one of the most lucrative fields today.
So what I can tell you is that you need to be Niche Based to build blogs and grow them. Then develop it as a marketing tool as mentioned above. Only then you can make a financial profit from the blog these days. If you don’t know how to find a niche, I have made a detailed blog post of which the link is given below.
Conclusion
The summary of what I have said so far is that blogging is not dead and it is not likely that the blogging sector will suffer any damage in the next ten years. But at the same time, one thing needs to be said for sure, that is, blogging is changing and there is a lot more to change. So only those who are ready to change according to the change can in blogging.
